Bolted type MET26SR bearing housing casted for Mitsubishi turbocharger components
Features of Mitsubishi / MET - SR series turbocharger:
- Since the 1965 until now, MET Series exhaust gas turbochargers has developed y series to meet the market deds, it includes the Axial type and Radial type of turbochargers:
MET turbocharger | Axial Type | Radial Type |
Original and ..0 Series | S, SA Series | SB,SBII Series | SR, SRII Series |
SC,SD Series | SE Series | SEII Series | SRC Series |
MA Series | MB Series | MBII Series | ER Series |
- The bearing is designed on the inner side of the impeller and turbine blade;
- The Rotor is supported by a pedestal with less thermal deformation;
- Bearing pedestal has an interated head tank, by which the lubrication oil is continuously supplied even after than emergency shut down of the engine;
- The gas inlet casing is double wall structure, which make it easy to check the turbine and nozzle when doing the maintenance;
- An advanced aerodynamic design for compressor and turbine is adopted in T-MET Series turbochargers;
- Simple and compact design of T-MET Series turbocharger make it long service lifetime and high reliability;

Description of Bolted type MET26SR bearing housing:
The turbine casing, bearing casing and compressor housing are made by cast iron. Some casings are water cooled which complicates the casting. Water cooled casings are necessary for turbochargers with ball and roller bearings with their own integral LO supply (to keep the LO cool). Modern turbochargers with externally lubricated journal bearings have uncooled casings. This leads to greater overall efficiency as less heat energy is rejected to cooling water and is available for the exhaust gas boiler.
